A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.
She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life...
She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants.
She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.
She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night...
She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. When it snows, she has no fear for her household;for all of them are clothed in scarlet..
Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land...
She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all."
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring praise at the city gate.
-Proverbs 31:10-31-
Do you feel empowered yet?...I do!
As my husband and I were on a much needed date night last night, we were discussing my role of stay-at-home mom. I was not giving myself any credit for being home with my precious babies.
I find fault in myself as a mother constantly and am guilty of often thinking my work at home as not productive enough. I compare myself to working moms, or the "pinterest moms" or whatever else I can find to put my work at home below others.
Isn't that the devil telling us lies?!
So as Zach and I were eating at Chili's over a Chocolate Chip Cookie Skillet (mmm!..) My husband pulled up this passage for me and it made me think. A mother is a mother. A wife is a wife. We are ALL doing important tasks; at home, work, church, extracurricular.
So don't allow yourself to fall into the lies being fed to you that you are not doing a GREAT job as a wife and mother. Cling to this passage as an encouragement this week as you carry on the MOST important job of mothering and taking care of your families!
What lies do you find yourself believing and how does Christ validate your special role in life?
Have a blessed day!
